Rock Candy Crystals crafts soaps, bath rituals, resin thrones, crystals, candles, and gift boxes that sparkle like sugarâmade for your skin, spirit, and sacred space, never for snacking.
âšPoured in small batches.
Inspired by magic, nature, and the joy of clean skin.âš
Letâs settle this once and for all.
Yes, lye is used to make real soap.
No, itâs not dangerous in the finished bar.
And yes â youâve probably eaten it. Letâs talk.
đ§Ș What is lye?
We use Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) â a strong alkaline substance that reacts with oils in a process called saponification.
Thatâs a fancy word for turning fats into soap.
Lye + oil = soap + glycerin.
By the end of the reaction, thereâs no lye left. Just creamy, sudsy magic.
---
đ A little history lesson
Soap has been around for thousands of years. Ancient Babylonians made it with ash and animal fats as far back as 2800 BCE.
The Romans? They noticed wood ash and rainwater made a slick mixture that cleaned laundry.
Eventually, people figured out that the âmagicâ was lye â first made from leaching hardwood ashes, then refined over centuries into the pure sodium hydroxide we use today.
So no, itâs not new.
Itâs ancient. Sacred. And still the only way to make true soap.
---
đ§Œ So why all the drama?
Lye has a bad reputation because itâs used (in very different forms) in:
Drain cleaner (not what we use!)
Food processing (yes, really â pretzels, hominy, and lutefisk, if you dare)
Bad DIY soap gone wrong đŹ
But in the hands of a careful maker? Itâs the backbone of every legit, skin-loving bar.
đ What we use:
At Rock Candy Crystals, we use pure, cosmetic-grade sodium hydroxide â stored safely, measured precisely, and used with intention.
Every recipe is calculated to neutralize the lye completely, so what touches your skin is glycerin-rich, lye-free soap.
đŹ Ever been told âreal soap doesnât have lyeâ?
Lye to me again. đ

Q: Is this candy?
A: Nope! â We may sparkle and smell like dessert, but every Rock Candy Crystals creation is made for your skin, spirit, or sacred space â not your mouth. Please donât eat the soap (no matter how good it looks).
Q: Are your products vegan or cruelty-free?
A: Most of our creations are plant-based and all are cruelty-free. We test on willing humans â and one very opinionated dragon đ â never animals.
Q: Will it stain my skin or tub?
A: Nope! We use cosmetic-grade mica and lake pigments designed to rinse clean. Keep your bars dry between uses to make the magic last longer.
Q: What if I want a custom scent, color, or vibe?
A: Easy! Just message us. We love crafting custom creations â whether itâs a soap bar, bath bomb, or spell-infused gift box made just for you.
Q: Do you offer gift wrap or bundles?
A: Yes! All products come boxed for gifting, and we offer custom bundle deals. Just send a raven. (Or, y'know⊠click âMessage Seller.â)
Q: Do you ship outside the U.S.?
A: Not yet, but we're working on it. U.S. orders only for now. Watch this space, or follow us on Instagram for updates.
Iâm not a bar soap guy. Never have been. But Rock Candy Crystals changed that. The CafĂ© Mocha bar is exfoliating without that weird dry, tight feeling you get from store stuff. It actually feels good on your skin. And the Vivianite soap? Hands down the coolest looking soap Iâve ever seen. Seriously â I almost didnât want to use it, just admire it. Highly recommend, even if you think youâre not a âbar soapâ person.
In review of Oh My Gatos and Café Mocha:
1) They are superbly appealing to the eye.2) Before even using them, you can tell they will be very moisturizing. They have a moisturizing (but not oily) feel when the bar is still dry, a silky feel.3) Lather! Most natural soaps lack bubbles. I will not lie, I was not very hopeful...but man was I mistaken. They have a lovely lather and I'm quite impressed. 4) My hands felt very clean, squeaky clean to be honest, after using. 5) My hands were beautifully moisturized when dryed after use.6) Lightly scented 7) Highly recommend and will buy again. If you are looking for a natural soap that cleans very well and is a delight to all of your senses, I recommend this brand. It is visually appealing, smells lovely, feels devine and makes you want to taste it (though I do not recommend that). Because of the overall feels, vibes, from this soap...I literally look for reasons to wash my hands. No, joke. Wait till you try it, you'll see I'm not kidding.
I am so impressed with my soaps! My favorite is the Cafe Mocha - it actually smells like my favorite coffee, makes plenty of bubbles, and leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed.
The Relaxation Station and Chrysanthemum are each so beautiful to look at and comforting scents. And of course Oh My Gatos is my daughter's favorite, vibrant and sweet like she is đI so appreciate that everything is all natural and made with intention. Just like your mamma's cooking you can tell its made with love to bring a little happiness to your life
Very impressed with the items I received! Fast delivery, beautifully packaged and an amazing product! The soap left my skin very soft and it smelled amazing! â€ïž
